The Tokuren Madake Koto Shinai is a supreme example of traditional koto-style construction. It features an almost perfectly straight profile from the kensen to the tsuka, flaring only slightly at the base. This geometry provides an exceptionally even balance along the entire length of the shinai.

Thanks to this balance, the Tokuren cuts through the air with remarkable speed while maintaining a solid presence, making it especially effective for large, final strikes. It excels at closing down the center line and delivering decisive Men strikes with clarity and control.

The shinai is constructed from four incredibly even and dense staves. When viewed from the tip, these form a precise cross shape, resulting in a compact, slim design that enhances handling and responsiveness.
